How does book club work?
Each month we select a hand-picked title for all our subscribers to read together. You'll receive access to the book through The Grey Hill App at the start of each month. During the month you can submit questions to the featured author, and an exclusive podcast interview will be delivered straight to your account.
If you subscribe mid-month you'll receive immediate access to the current title for the remainder of that month.
When will I get access to my book?
Once you subscribe you can log in immediately at reader.thegreyhill.com using your purchase email address. As a small independent company we personally activate every subscription — this usually takes up to 24 hours, after which you'll receive a confirmation email with everything you need. If you join mid-month you'll receive access to the current title for the remainder of that month. Any questions? Just use the chat function and we'll be happy to help.

The Grey Hill App is our digital reading platform where you access your monthly book rental, available on iOS and Android. It's the same platform used by our theatre partners, connecting readers and venues in one shared digital space.

What are the technical requirements?
ll you need is a stable internet connection. You can access your books directly through your web browser at reader.thegreyhill.com, or download The Grey Hill App on iOS or Android for reading on the go.
No special software or equipment is required. We recommend using headphones for the best audio experience when listening to author interviews.
What kind of books will we read?
We've curated a full year of hand-picked titles in partnership with Birlinn Books based in Edinburgh, so you can see exactly what's coming when you subscribe. This years selection focuses on quality Scottish and independent voices, chosen to spark conversation and bring readers together around great storytelling. Can I cancel anytime?
Yes — there are no long term commitments. You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time through your account at reader.thegreyhill.com. If you cancel mid-month you'll retain access to the current title until the end of that month.
Will the ebook always be available in the subscription
Your subscription includes a monthly ebook rental through The Grey Hill App for the duration of that month.
But the real heart of the Book Hub is what comes with it — every month we create an exclusive author event, giving subscribers the chance to submit their questions directly to the featured author.
