About the Ebook

Of Stone and Sky begins with the disappearance of Highland shepherd Colvin Munro. Years later, a mysterious trail of his possessions is discovered scattered across the Cairngorm mountains — a haunting puzzle that pulls his foundling‑sister Mo and younger brother Sorley back into the past.

As Mo prepares to write Colvin’s eulogy, she begins to unravel the forces that shaped his life and disappearance. Sorley, too, is driven by grief and unanswered questions, determined to uncover the truth. Is their brother alive or dead? And what secrets lie buried in the land they have always called home?

Set on a farming estate in the upper reaches of the River Spey, this novel spans generations of a shepherding family. It is at once a mystery, a family saga, a political meditation on land and power, and a lyrical celebration of community, resilience and the natural world.

Winner of the Bookmark Book Festival Book of the Year and longlisted for the Highland Book Prize.

“An enthralling mystery, family saga and Sunset Song-esque ode to the land.”
— The Herald, 25 Summer Reads
