HANS-WALTER ARENDS ist ein erfahrener Touristenführer und Mitglied der Scottish Tourist Guides Association. Aus Deutschland stammend, lebt er seit 1992 in Edinburgh. Am Anfang seiner Karriere als Touristenführer bemerkte er einen Mangel an Hintergrundinformationen über Schottland für deutschprache Touristen. Dies führte zu der Anfertigung einer kleinen Schottland Broschüre, die, durch eine stetige Erweiterung, in der neuesten Ausgabe des heutigen Reiseführers Das Schottlandbuch resultierte. Arends zielt darauf ab, mit dem Einsatz all seines Wissens und der Erfahrungen, die er über die letzten Jahre gesammelt hat, Schottland für deutschsprachige Besucher besser zugänglich zu machen und den deutschsprachigen Tourismus in Schottland zu fördern.
